The origin of tapas is not quite clear however the most widely told story is when the King of Spain, King Alfonso the 10th was ill he could only eat mall bites of food and washed them down with wine. When he recovered, he declared it was the only way to eat and decreed that no wines were to be served in the Inns without food.

Another other popular story is of the Inn keepers in Spain placing a small piece of bread on top of the drinks to stop flies getting into them, this was soon topped with small morsels of meat or vegetables, creating the tapa.

Either way this style of eating spread across the Mediterranean, changing and evolving through each city, town and village. From this we at La Bodega bring you a taste of the Mediterranean influenced by Spain.
